Documentary photography

My main style of photography once the obligatory group shots and the Bride and Groom portraits have been taken, will become a documentary, reportage and candid style shoot. The idea behind this is to capture the day as it unfolds. This documentary or reportage style is aimed at producing more natural unposed photography, reducing the awkwardness of posed looking images you may have seen when looking at other examples of wedding photography.

The laughter, the tears, the suprise, the anticipation & the smiles.

The Laughter

Documentary photography aims to capture the candid smiles, tears, suprise and joy throughout your day. When you are at your most relaxed can be a good opportunity to get those candid shots. Whether you have the speeches etc before or after the wedding breakfast is irrelavant, this is a great time to shoot some of those images. Documentary style wedding photography records very genuine moments occurring throughout a wedding day. By approaching photography in this way, individual pictures will highlight the subject and scene honestly and with authenticity. For me, this candid style of of photography far outweighs any qualities that, perhaps, a pretty but relatively meaningless portrait could portray.

The top table speeches can produce tears, laughter, smiles, and joy and can be quite emotional.

Capturing the suprise of the Bride, Groom or any other guest can make and produce great images, the variety of emotions captured over the course of the day makes a wedding day really quite unique .

On the day, I love to capture your guests as who they are, laughing and joking or other emotions and record and document it in a style that is unobtrusive but also creative.

The apprehension

Documentary photography captures those fleeting moments. A brief period in time. One so small that maybe no one but the photographer noticed. That’s what makes it so special and beautiful. In one single frame frozen forever by the photographer. Then built up as a set of images, allows you to tell a complete and vibrant story of the day.
